Sitting down with one of the founders of Canada's digital ambitions
To understand how Canada’s digital government ambitions got here — and how to move forward — I sat down with Ryan Androsoff on the Functional Government Podcast. Ryan is a founding member of the Canadian Digital Service and host of the Think Digital podcast.
Nobody set out to build cumbersome, confusing government processes. Bureaucracy happened for what were, at the time, good reasons — but the systems became gradually, inexorably complex. Ryan is a graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School who knows that building functional government is hard, not because of technology, but because of the structures and incentives in the public sector. This is where we started the podcast: going back to the beginning.
